4 summits in 4 mountain ranges
Certain alpine ascents have marked time in the history of alpinism, I remember as a child reading these books about the first epic ascent of the Eiger or the tragic first summiting attempt of the Matterhorn.
It is now on film for you...
Here are the most mythical ascents in four different mountain ranges of the Alps :
Matterhorn in swiss Wallis, Eiger in bernese Oberland, La Meije in the Ecrins and Mont Blanc.
Ascent of the north east ridge of the Eiger
Weather forecast was good for the next two days and conditions apparently perfect : "Come on Martin, it is time for Mittellegi !"
And here we go on the Bernese Oberland classic ridge bordering the well-known north face of the Eiger
Matterhorn ascent
The Matterhorn or Cervin as we call it in France has a particular aura.
it probably comes from its ideal location overhanging above Zermatt village and perfect pyramidal shape.
Jonny decided to book my service to ascend the elegant Hörnli ridge first climbed by Michel Croz and Edward Wimpher in 1885.
La Meije traverse
A long period of bad weather around Chamonix motivated me to change mountain range for a private guiding week.
I suddenly got a call form my good friend and colleague Anthony persuading me to make a common ascent of the famous queen of the Ecrins mountain range in the south of the Alps :
" La Meige, on y va... !"
Mont blanc
Early season Mont Blanc ascents always have a particular atmosphere: lots of snow cover, longer days and different lights.
Probably also less crowded, I just recommend it !
Watch a swedish team of friends on a memorable ascent last june...
Mont blanc
For many years, I have decided to break the ascent of Mont Blanc in 3 days.
I thought "it is just giving more chance for the people to summit !"
Moreover, we are never in the main stream starting from the Tête Rousse rather than the Goûter.
Here we did it by fair means starting walking from Les Houches and scrambling the Goûter ridge at sunrise...
